Tanzanite was discovered in the late 1960s in a tiny area of the world known as Tanzania. This gemstone exhibits a rich violet-blue color. It is a trichroic gemstone, which means it shows different colors when viewed in different directions. It is said to provide balance to the person who is wearing the tanzanite. Tanzanite has increased in popularity and is valued for its beauty and brilliance.
The name turquoise originated in the thirteenth century and is one of the oldest known gemstones. Turquoise gained special prominence in the 1800s, when Queen Victoria attributed sentimental qualities of love and devotion to the stone. This stone now equates with prosperity, happiness, and rebirth; traits which are quite appropriate for the coming new year. The turquoise gemstone ranges in color from greenish blue, to sky blue shades.
Zircon is found in a wide range of colors such as: blue, yellow, orange, brown, green and red. The blue zircon is associated with December and represents wisdom and health. According to folk wisdom, zircon has the power to relieve pain, whet the appetite and protect travelers from disease and injury. It ensures a warm welcome and prevents nightmares for a tranquil night of sleep.
