Can you believe Goodman & Sons is celebrating its 70th anniversary?!
So much has changed since Stanley Goodman opened his very first watch repair shop in 1947, and we couldn't be more proud of where we stand today. Keep reading to learn about the history of our beloved family business. Thank you for letting us serve you and your family for the past 70 years: we look forward to many more!
1947

Stanley Goodman left the Navy and, together with his mentor, Nat Schwartz,
opened his first watch repair shop as a concession at Fort Eustis
1956
|
After troops began leaving for the Vietnam War, Stanley went to work for GEX.
He ran their jewelry department through the 1960's.
1970's
|
After opening a second military concession at Langley Air Force Base, Stanley's three sons,
Ned, Stuart, and Eric, joined the family business.
1979
|
In 1979, the Goodmans opened a location in Riverdale Shopping Center and closed
their military concessions at Fort Eustis and Langley.
This location offered watch and jewelry repairs as well as jewelry sales.
1985
|
In 1985, the Goodmans moved their business to a larger storefront in Riverdale shopping center.
1987
|
In need of more space, the Goodmans expanded into the neighboring space to create a new section
for china, gifts, and a bridal registry.
1998
|
In 1998, the Goodmans opened a brand new store in Williamsburg.
It is one of two locations that remain today.
2005
|
In 2005, the Goodmans moved from their Riverdale location and built their newest
store on Coliseum Drive in Hampton.
Today, this location serves as the headquarters for all operations.
2017

Today, Goodman & Sons boasts a team of talented associates in
both locations. The third generation of Goodmans is running the family business,
and we can't wait to see what else is in store!
